About the Exhibition

Art Belongs in the Fabric of Community Life

Ingleside Gallery and The Barb Co Group present The Art of Place, two curated group exhibitions hosted at Barbagelata Real Estate's Marina and West Portal offices. The shows bring together established and emerging artists working in San Francisco's landscape and cityscape traditions — paintings, photographs, sculptures, and collage — into trusted neighborhood spaces where people make their most significant decisions about where to live.

Paul Barbagelata and his family have deep roots in San Francisco, and that connection is what makes this collaboration meaningful. As owner of The Barb Co Group, he has opened these storefront office spaces to the local art community out of a shared belief with Ingleside Gallery curator Shrey Purohit that art and neighborhood life belong together.

Why It Matters

A Different Model

At a moment when San Francisco's art scene faces gallery closures, federal funding cuts, and market uncertainty, The Art of Place offers a different model: exhibiting and selling art directly in the neighborhoods, meeting people where they already are.

The partnership between an independent gallery and a multigenerational real estate family demonstrates that art doesn't need white-walled institutions to thrive — it belongs in the fabric of community life.

The Marina opening aligns with SF Art Fair and STARTUP Art Fair week, giving visitors a reason to see art across the city, from Fort Mason to Chestnut Street.

Purchase Directly

All artwork is available for purchase directly from the artists throughout the run of each show.

Meet the Artists

Opening weekends feature rotating gallery hours with exhibiting artists — connect directly with the people behind the work.

Free & Open

Both events are free and open to the public. No registration required, but RSVPs are appreciated.
